Settling in..

Today was another day spent unpacking and sorting things out. We had to stay in this morning as we were having our pool induction! It seems a though we have quite a decent pool and spa, the filters are good and it is a self chlorinator. All we have to do is take a water sample into the salesroom every couple of weeks and they will analyse it and tell us how much of what we need to add (be it salt, bicarb or hydrochloric acid). Have to say the water was too cold for me today and the pool man did say that we will probably not want to go in during the dry as the water will be too cold but we will see.
Anyway back to the house. It is starting to take shape.

I have finally got the bigger TV that I wanted and the irony is that Tish chose it, she was convinced that it was the same size as our old one!
The owners / previous tenants certainly had an odd choice for wall colours with one wall red and the opposite blue - we will negotiate and see if we can paint them both white / magnolia in time.
The outside space is shaping up as well..
We have a large undercover breakfast bar / bbq area for which we will get some furniture as we will be spending a large proportion of our time here I think.
Our washing machine / tumble dryer / dishwasher will live outside as well - combination of no space and no internal plumbing to connect to anyway.
In the afternoon we went and bought some storage shelves to hang in the wardrobes and a new mattress.
The rest of the afternoon was then spent in much the same way as the morning.
We also tried out our new cooker, lamb chops gently pan fried in Moroccan spices as we have not grill pan. Very nice.
Whilst failing to get the watering system to work (another induction is needed I think) saw this very large and attractive butterfly.
It would never pose long enough with its wings open. Have posted it on a couple of forums just to see if anyone can identify it for me so watch this space

  1. Is the space totally undercover or could the wind blow the rain onto your washing machine? Did the 2nd team of removal men never come? If not, should think you'd get some money back. What did you mean by watering system? And what's a "stubbie"?!!!!

  2. Right here goes...
The space is not totally undercover but it is how most houses do their laundry, the wind would have to be from one direction only as our neighbours house shields it as well. Also we will get a cover for them.
The second team did not turn up other than to remove the packaging and will come back for the rest next week so we will look at getting a refund forpart of it.
The watering system is just a timed irrigation system for the garden but we can't get the program to work so we will get the company out to show us (at the agents expense not ours)
A stubbie is a small glass bottle of beer; a tinnie is a can and bigger glass bottles are called something else but can't remember what at moment

He'll be able to drink stubbies of veebee (aka VB aka VicBit aka Victoria Bitter - or Oz lager!) soon. It's a hard life
