Feeling hot, hot hot.....

Am sitting inside with the aircon on this afternoon as it is too hot outside. Tish is asleep as she is on three nights from tonight. Currently the outside temp is hovering just below 34 degrees here (in Darwin it is 36 and in Mount Isa 39 - all Tish's Oz Facebook friends are wilting!) and much as I would like to be outside even with the fans on it is just too sticky, although the humidity is now dropping!
We decided to go for a walk this morning before it got too hot and so we headed back to Crystal Cascades in Redlynch as there are a couple of nice trails through some forest.
We stopped off briefly close to where we had out holiday caravan when we first arrived as there looked to be a nice path into the forest there but it ended up at a locked gate.
The views were nice though

The water was flowing quite fast so i suspect this will be a good location for Pooh Sticks!
We did hear the plop and see the shape of a freshwater turtle vanishing into the depths but despite waiting we did not see it re-appear
As the walk had been very short we moved on to Crystal Cascades. This is a popular walk up to a waterfall with a series of swimming holes on the way.

The water was very clear and you could see schools of fish swimming around

As some of the schools have already broken up for the summer the area was getting busy so the birdlife was quite restricted - although there were a few things in the forest but the light meant that we did not get any decent pictures.
Tish though was spoilt for choice as there were butterflies and dragonflies everywhere.
These are the best

Tomorrow I shall take the children off into the hills around Kuranda again and then go looking for a Christmas Tree!
