Sports day

Today was Wulagi School Sports Day. It was great to go to bed last night and not to have to worry about whether the day was going to be cancelled or not - we knew the weather would be OK and it was.
There are three houses in the school all named after birds (very appropriate) the houses are Brolga (yellow), Pelican (blue) and Jabiru (red); Xanthe and Cameron are in Jabiru and Hamish is in Pelican.

They break the day into two parts, the traditional sports (most of which are done the day before) and what they called the "tabloid" sport (egg and spoon race etc).

We bought Cameron along but as it was not his "day" in school only one of his peer group was there and we could not persuade him to run. Next year he will be in every day so he will definately take part.

The first event though was the last traditional sport the sprint - for Hamish's age they ran 50m and Xanthe ran 75m.

They both were brilliant.

Hamish came THIRD!!!!!!

Well done Xanthe.

We did not stay for all of the tabloid sports as by this stage Cameron was pulsing like a traffic light. We did see Xanthe do the flipper hurdles and Hamish finish his part of the sack relay...

Hamish also caught the sun and I had to bring him home early as I think he got a bit of heat stroke.

All in all a great day.

Oh yes the parents event was a tug of war which given my back I did not participate in.

  1. Well done, Hamish. Love the flippers, Xanthe! Your turn next year, Cameron! How suitable the houses having bird names. Hope Hamish is feeling better.

  2. I am very disappointed in Daddy (though it was no more than expected) but delighted otherwise - 3rd and 4th, fantastic. Auntie Jo is bursting with pride, well done to both of you. xx
