The road to the Baggy Green....an English mans dispair!

Today was Hamish's first cricket club session and I am pleased to say that he loved it. We ended up going to Darwin Cricket Club based near to the holiday let we were in. They seem very well organised and cater for all ages with three separate age groups playing slightly different versions designed to encourage everyone to get involved. They don't for example worry about all the rules for the under eights. We will be back as they say.

Other than that our day was not as originally planed mainly because Tish did not feel too good so we decided to take it easy and go for a cycle ride tomorrow - after all its not as if the weather is going to change and be bad tomorrow!
I went over to Knuckey this morning as Tish did not feel like coming out. There was a nice selection of birds knocking around; the water levels are really dropping fast and it is starting to look good for passage waders in the autumn.

I spent quite a bit of time trying to get some photos of a notoriously jumpy species the golden headed cisticola. I was quite pleased with the results:

I also tried to take some pictures of birds in flight but the delay in the camera means it is very hard to follow birds, I only succeeded when targeting one of the largest flying birds in Australia (if not the largest) the Pelican:

The other really tricky group is raptors so to say I was pleased with these two shots would be an understatement.

This Brown Goshawk dropped in for about twenty seconds and I managed to get these two pictures both of which amazingly enough were in focus!
