Batty

Quick quiz....What is a group of fruit bats called? ...answers on a postcard and the first person to guess correctly is a smarta*#e!
Alans melalueca tree is currently in flower which means only one thing, namely the fruit bats are visiting the garden at dusk giving us the perfect opportunity to watch and take some photos.
Here are a selection from yesterday taken by Tish before tea time

You can really see why they are also called flying foxes.
Getting them in focus is a tricky operation as the light fails, although as they "stall" prior to landing it can be a bit easier

but once they have landed they vanish. So here is a variation in the occasional series  along the "Wheres Wally" theme here is "Wheres Batty"...

  3. Bill Bailey - programme following Alfred Russell Wallace, shown on Sunday - ate fruit bat in Indonesia. It looked revolting. Perhaps you can have an orchard of bats?
